2021: Home
Welcome to the First Annual Parlor Trick Print Exchange!
This exchange was open and limited to 20 U.S. Printmakers who created all forms of hand-pulled prints from etchings to screen print to linocuts. The theme this year was "Home." What does home mean to you? What is your current home like? What is your dream home like? Is your home real or fictional? Magical or mysterious? Maybe someone else’s home brings you joy? Or maybe something makes you feel at home? Is it a place or a feeling or a concept? Below we have 20 different interpretations of what "Home" means to each artist.
This print exchange was made possible by a DCA Art Fund Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

Instagram: artsyashleeThe theme of this exchange was "Home" and it was so perfect because at the time, hubby and I were waiting what seems like FOREVER to close on our new home.
It felt so incredible participating, learning a new art form and working with a completely foreign medium for me. So grateful to have all these dope new pieces to put around my new home, btw!

Domovoi by Coralette Damme
Minnesota
Website: craftyhag
Instagram: thecraftyhagDomovoi is a legendary Slavic house spirit that might live under the stove and it is said that he can mask his appearance by adopting the form of a dog or cat. The Domovoi protects the family and pets but if you let your house fall into disarray he'll let you know it is too messy by playing poltergeist like pranks until you tidy up.
My relief print was created using 2 separate carved blocks that I printed by hand - no press used.

St. Printersburg by Kristy Gaunt

Instagram: ytsirkgaunt & breakfastfordinnerHowdy! I’m Kristy Gaunt House, and I’ve spent a lot of time inside my home these past couple years here in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The idea of a home is so much more than just a place to sleep, eat, & repeat; our tiny 700sqft house would not exist without being an art studio, a pet paradise, an overgrown garden, a full-time restaurant, and so much more all mixed into one. This print is a 9-layer screen print created in my garage print lab.

Instagram: tianyaahTiana Nanayo Kuuleialoha Honda is an artist and printmaker who was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. She earned a BA in Art at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo in 2019 and currently resides in Lawrence, Kansas as an MFA candidate at the University of Kansas. “Enveloped” is a reflection of the homesickness she frequently experiences. However her long hair, which flows like lava, is a comforting reminder of home.
